Minister for curbing black marketing of fertilizers

Srinagar, June 24: Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Abdul Aziz Zargar distributed cheques of freight amounting to Rs 2.56 crore among 33 cooperative societies of the state at an impressive function held here today.

Among others Secretary Cooperative Tanveer Jehan, Registrar Cooperative Societies Dr G N Qasba, senior officers of the department and representatives of cooperatives societies were present on the occasion.

Earlier, the Minister also reviewed the functioning of the department. It was apprised to the Minister that presently 33 cooperative societies are functioning in the state including 26 in Kashmir and 7 in Jammu divisions besides central level cooperative societies have also been constituted to facilitate the farmer community for getting the fertilizers including Urea, DAP, IFFCO, IPL etc.

Addressing on the occasion, Zargar exhorted upon the cooperative societies and functionaries of the department for serving the farming community by distributing fertilizers at their door-steps in their respective areas.

He stressed for making distribution system of fertilizers as foolproof and ensure the availability of quality fertilizers all over the state so that the community does not suffer for want of fertilizers.
He also asked for curbing the black marketing of fertilizers and warned stern action against those found guilty in mal practicing.

He also asked for designating nodal agencies of cooperatives and agriculture departments for timely and streamlined supply of fertilizers to the farmers during kharief and rabi seasons.
He said that these agencies should keep a close rapport with the farmers during the supply and distribution of fertilizers.
