Our Services/ Activities:

  • To assist the state government in the formulation of cooperative policy and implementation thereof.
  • To register the Cooperatives under The J&K Cooperative Societies Act of 1989 and The J&K Self Reliant Act of 1999.
  • To supervision, audit and resolve the disputes of cooperative societies including banks.
  • To provide assistance to the cooperative societies under the plan budget and to facilitate the funding of these cooperatives through centrally sponsored schemes and agencies like NCDC.
  • To encourage people to make cooperatives in the newer areas/ core areas of economic activities of the state.
  • To encourage unemployed/ skilled youth to form cooperatives for achieving progress by way of utilization of resources viz. human and capital and through use of common facilities.
  • To provide copies of various documents like certificate of registration, Bye-laws of the societies, audit memorandum of societies, annual balance sheets etc. on the payment of prescribed fee and to allow the inspection of such documents free of charge.

Grievances Redressal

This Department is sensitized to redress grievances in a responsible and effective manner through the following:

A Grievances Cell has been set up in the Department in order to ensure speedy redressal of grievances received from the public and employees of the department and the cooperative institutions either directly or through concerned Institutions.

Joint Registrar (Administration) in the office of the Registrar Cooperative Societies, J&K heads the Grievances Cell in order to ensure expeditious redressal of grievances. On every Wednesday between 10.00 AM and 1.00 PM, the public can meet the Joint Registrar (Administration) with regard to their grievances and complaints. Besides the public may also meet the Registrar, Cooperative Societies on any working day but preferably on Wednesday.

This Department would respond to any complaint regarding the implementation of the centrally/ state sponsored programmes and schemes for all kind of cooperative societies including cooperative banks.

E-mail address of the Grievance Cell of the Department has already been registered for grievances monitoring. The e-mail address of the Public Grievances Cell is: publicgrievancecell@jkcooperative.org. This is being attended to daly between 3 PM to 4 PM. Besides the public can also SMS to the Registrar Cooperative Societies (9419000493), Additional Registrar Cooperative Societies, Jammu (9419114439)/ Kashmir (9419000671), Joint Registrar (Audit) (941917073), Cooperative Societies, Jammu (9419181515)/ Kashmir (9419065047) and Joint Registrar (Administration) (9419007837) for any of their grievances.

This Department would like to appeal to the stake holders to provide full and complete information of the grievances in order to enable timely settlement of the issues involved. It would be our effort to settle grievances thus received from the stakeholders within a period of three months.

The Citizens’ Charter will be reviewed annually for further improving our response to the public.

 

Time Frame Of Redressal Of The Grievances

  • Issue of acknowledgement: 15 days to the petitioner.
  • Forwarding of the grievances petition: 15 days to the concerned authority.
  • Final disposal of transferred/referred cases: 3 months by the concerned authority.
